About the Item
This very unique and one of a kind square rug was hand woven in the area of Serapi located northwest of Persia. Made with hand spun wool and all organic dyes, this rug has a square shaped medallion surrounded by simple,angular vines and spandrel within a crab shaped border.
The juxtaposition of the colours on this outstanding 19th century carpet is extremely subtle. The clearity and freshness of the colours of this majestic serapi is striking given the fact that it was made over a century ago. The structure of the rug is a single cotton weft and double cotton warp. Small masterfully restoration performed by a master weaverand not at all noticeable, but otherwise is in excellent condition. Measures: 10'5" x 10'5".
