Hand knotted antique Shirvan rug, woven in the Caucasus region circa 1920.
This refined Shirvan features a balanced field composed of repeating geometric medallions, articulated with angular motifs and symbolic elements characteristic of traditional Shirvan design. The restrained palette of soft beige, ivory, taupe and warm brown enhances the clarity of the pattern, giving the rug a calm and architectural presence.
Woven from wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a firm yet supple handle and a clearly defined surface.
