About the Item
This antique Sultanabad rug has an uncommon field orientation for a Persian rug. From 1890-1900, its well-drawn graph was designed with only vertical symmetry, whereas many Sultanabad rugs typically had both vertical and horizontal orientation. Both the geometric-floral medallion and the border were drawn with that same one-directional symmetry, emboldened by bright red, subtle blue, and gold colors. Thick, hand-woven wool pile, quick and easy to clean.
