Hand knotted antique Tabriz rug, woven in Iran circa 1920.
This antique Tabriz rug presents a finely detailed central medallion set within an expansive ivory field, filled with an intricate allover arrangement of floral, palmette, and scrolling vine motifs. Accents of sage green, muted blue, soft gold, blush, and light brown are woven throughout the composition, creating depth and visual richness while maintaining a balanced and harmonious overall palette. The wide green border is decorated with repeating floral elements and layered guard borders that frame the field with structure and elegance.
Woven from wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a firm yet refined structure and a well balanced handle, characteristic of high quality early 20th century Tabriz weaving.
