Authentic 19th century Persian Kirman carpet
Size: 13'4" × 23'10" (406 × 726 cm)
A highly decorative example of late 19th century Persian Kirman rugs, the dark blue field with a very dense design of lush blossoming gold and beige trees with one enlarged tree at the upper end within a midnight blue blooming shrubbery and tree border.
Colors can range from ivory, blue and magenta to a more golden and saffron cast. As unique as their designer, no two Kerman rugs are precisely alike. Because of the tremendous demand for Antique Persian rugs, and because of the complex demographics of those generating the demand, a surprising variety of styles and designs were produced. While some Kirman rugs were woven explicitly for moneyed buyers from the West, there were also local consumers which only added to the diversity of the Kirman antique Kilim rugs.
