19th Century Persian Ziegler Sultanabad Carpet ( 10'8" x 13'3" - 325 x 404 ) - This magnificent example of late 19th-century Persian weaving represents the pinnacle of decorative antique rugs. Woven in the Sultanabad region, known for producing robust, large-scale designs for the European and American markets, this piece exhibits exceptional structural integrity and rich, naturally dyed wool.
The dramatic field is saturated in a deep indigo, providing a powerful contrast for the stylized palmettes and oversized blossoms rendered in terracotta, ivory, and brilliant secondary blues. The sophisticated use of the blue color rugs palette in the main field creates a sense of depth and formality, characteristic of the finest Sultanabad rugs of the Qajar Dynasty period.
