With its timeless design and modern industrial style with rustic sensibility, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Mahal runner will take on a curated lived-in look that feels timeless while imparting a sense of warmth and welcomed informality. The warm taupe colored field features an all-over Herati pattern. The Classic Herati design, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. It is enclosed with a floral border flanked with an inner and outer running water guard band. With ornate details and a lovingly time-worn composition, this antique Persian hallway runner is poised to impress. Rendered in variegated shades of taupe, greige, oyster gray, mushroom, gray, pashmina, dove gray, beige, coffee, and stone gray with other neutral colors.
