A captivating example of early 20th-century Persian textile artistry, this antique Tabriz runner fragment exemplifies the refined aesthetics and craftsmanship of the famed Tabriz weaving tradition. Hand-knotted in Persia circa 1920, the rug features a delicate allover design rendered in a soothing, patinated palette of sky blue, ivory, soft camel, taupe, and subtle notes of terracotta.
The central field is adorned with an intricate Herati-inspired pattern composed of paisley motifs, rosettes, stylized floral elements, and abstract leaves—all arranged in rhythmic symmetry. The paisleys and florals are loosely spaced, allowing the pale blue ground to shine through, giving the piece an ethereal, almost watercolor-like quality.
Framing the composition is a narrow border composed of repeating octagonal medallions and rosettes set against a warm, muted terracotta ground. This framing anchors the delicate inner design while offering a gentle contrast in color and geometry.
