The weathered field is covered with an all-over Herati pattern. The all-over Herati pattern is among the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. A thin sawtooth border frames the inner composition. It is enclosed with a turtle vine scroll border flanked with an inner and outer Herati guard border and inner and outer boteh guard stripe.
