Fereghan Carpet Rug, circa 1900
Delicate networks of blossoming vine-scroll meander through both the field and central medallion of this fine Fereghan Sarouk carpet from central Persia. This is a masterfully balanced piece with light complimenting dark, blues and greens paired with red, and large static elements and areas infused with smaller sinuous energetic arrangements of ornament. Fereghan Sarouk carpets are seen as some of the most elegant Persian carpets of the 19th century and this piece does not disappoint.
