About the Item
Bakhshayeh carpets are an older and more Primitive version of antique Serapi and heriz carpets. They circle back to the 1800s. The abrashed and stepped red subfield fits neatly into the primarily dark brown field with its unusual floral repeat pattern. The stepped irregular lozenge medallion also has a different, rare flower design. Bold ivory jagged palmette and lancet leaf border. The orange details fairly date this carpet. Primitive Design!
