This Persian Sultanabad–style rug is a contemporary hand-knotted piece inspired by the grand village carpets of western Iran. Woven in wool on a cotton foundation, it measures approximately 6 ft 10 in x 9 ft 5 in (about 2.08 x 2.87 meters), placing it in a versatile standard medium, room-size format. The rug features a comfortable medium pile and balanced weight, offering the visual richness of traditional Sultanabad designs with the reliability of modern production. As a new rug, it combines classical proportions with consistent structure and finish.
The design presents an allover floral and vine composition without a central medallion, creating an even, continuous visual rhythm. Stylized palmettes, rosettes, leafy vines, and softened cloudband elements are arranged symmetrically across a cool gray field. Muted teal, sage, pale khaki, and soft parchment tones add depth while maintaining a restrained, harmonious palette. A wide primary border, supported by narrow guard borders, gently frames the field with subtle contrast rather than bold separation.
Hand-knotted using an asymmetrical Persian knot at a moderate density, the rug has a pile height of approximately 6 mm and a supple yet stable handle. The wool pile provides resilience and soil-hiding qualities, while the woven cotton foundation ensures dimensional stability. This construction supports use in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices, and low-traffic hallways, offering durability suitable for everyday residential settings.
