This antique, circa-1920, Sultanabad rug features an eau-de-nil field with an overall design of mole-brown, ivory and soft brown bold palmettes linked by a scrolling flowerhead vine and large serrated leaves, in a soft brown border of ivory and chocolate-brown linked lozenge alternating with flowerheads between narrow ivory linked lozenge stripes, inner running-dog stripe.
