About the Item
From Orley Shabahang’s Galaxy Collection, “Magma” is a 2016 hand-knotted masterpiece woven in a village near Arak (formerly Sultanabad), Iran. Its palette—vibrant reds, deep blues, earthy greens, and warm creams—erupt in painterly sweeps across pure handspun wool. Vegetable dyes enrich each hue with depth and nuance. Crafted by a master weaver in her home using time-honored methods, this 9′ × 12′ signature carpet is more than an accent—it’s a statement of craft, color, and intention.
Orley Shabahang works house to house, village to village with our weavers, working to preserve the art of weaving as a cottage industry, and implementing ancient weaving methods to create the antiques of the future. This carpet includes the signature of our master weaver, Bahram Shabahang, and it is in excellent new condition. The size is 9' x 11'11".
