Hand knotted Heriz rug, woven in Iran circa 1930.
This striking Heriz features a bold geometric central medallion set within a dense field of angular floral and vine motifs, drawn with the strong, architectural clarity characteristic of Heriz weaving. The palette of brick red, deep navy, ivory and muted blue creates a powerful contrast, while the wide border with repeating rosettes and geometric elements frames the composition with balance and rhythm.
Woven from high quality wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a robust structure and a firm, substantial handle, reflecting the durability for which Heriz carpets are renowned.
