Hand knotted Heriz rug, woven in Iran circa 1940.
This Heriz presents a large geometric medallion anchored within a dense field of angular floral and tribal motifs, executed with the bold, architectural drawing for which Heriz carpets are widely admired. The rich rust red ground is complemented by deep navy, ivory and muted blue accents, creating strong contrast while maintaining a balanced and cohesive composition.
Woven from high quality wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a thick, durable structure and a firm handle, reflecting the robustness traditionally associated with Heriz weaving.
Size: 12.8 × 9.3 ft (391 × 284 cm), a generous room-size format ideal for living rooms, dining spaces or bedrooms.
In good condition for its age. A strong example of vintage Heriz weaving, combining bold design, durability and enduring Persian craftsmanship.
