About the Item

This traditional handwoven Persian Bakhshaish rug has a shaded umber field of stylized geometric stalks issuing angled vines and geometric motif, in a refined ivory scrolling rosette border, between a profusion of floral and geometric stripes. Bakhshaish Rugs (also spelled Bakhshayesh and Bekhshayesh) are named after the city of Bakhshaish which is located in the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran. Bakhshaish rugs typically have a unique combination of an all-over geometric design or graphic geometric medallion combined with a traditional repetitive herati pattern. Bakhshaish rugs brilliantly enhance any room they are placed in.
