This exquisite late 19th century Moud carpet from the Khorasan region of Northeast Persia showcases the elegance and refinement for which these weavings are celebrated. Renowned for their intricate patterns, fine weave, and balanced use of color, Moud carpets are among the most prized examples of Persian artistry.
The field is richly decorated with a complex allover medallion design, interwoven with scrolling arabesques, stylized floral motifs, and symbolic imagery, including elegant animals and birds. Surrounding the field, the border incorporates panels of calligraphic cartouches, adding depth and cultural resonance to the piece.
Woven in hand-knotted wool, the palette features deep indigo, rich red, ivory, soft gold, and subtle accents of green and blue, creating a harmonious yet vibrant composition.
