About the Item

Persian Mahal carpets have made quite a name for themselves among the weaving culture since the 19th century. The sophisticated and quirky design of these beauties is what separates them from the rest of the carpets. They’re highly decorative when it comes to aesthetic appeal and the best Mahal rugs have become quite rare. The name “Mahal” derives from a village known as Mahallat in the Arak region of Iran. This carpet measures 14.6 x 20.6 ft. and is from circa 1940s, has never been used, therefore is like new / in excellent condition. Provenance: Purchased from Sotheby's, London, UK.
