On the Design
Admirers of Persian weaving will appreciate that this pattern draws some inspiration from the works of Tabriz master weaver Hadji Jalili, though its colors are very different from his works. This piece’s play of medallion and all over pattern style, rendered with exceptional finesse, demonstrates one of the highest levels of urban workshop artistry through its attention to scale and detail—especially for this large size. Design scholars will note the sophisticated interplay between the midnight blue outer border—populated with delicate Herati motifs in coral and ivory—and the central medallion's subtle colorway of sage green and salmon pink.
