About the Item

This is an authentic Persian Senneh rug from around 1900, woven in the Kurdish city of Sanandaj (historically called Senneh) in northwest Iran. Senneh pieces from this period are prized for their silk foundations, very fine weave, and crisp drawing, and this rug checks all those boxes. The rug features a dense allover pattern on a deep midnight-navy field, packed with stylized floral sprays, palmettes, and small abstract motifs that read as a shimmering tapestry from a distance. Colors include soft coral, rose, apricot, camel, light olive, ivory, and small hits of dark blue and brick, giving the piece real depth without feeling loud. The multiple borders are classic Senneh: A main border with repeating small floral and vine motifs! Flanked by narrow guard stripes with fine meandering patterns that showcase the weaver’s precision. Because of the fine silk foundation, the design is razor sharp, with a tight knot count and a supple, almost fabric-like handle. Ideal size for entryway, office, or as a wall-hung piece of textile art! Approx. size: 3'9" x 5'4"
