53769 Distressed Antique Persian Malayer Rug, 03'09 x 06'10. Emanating sophistication and bohemian charm, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Malayer rug beautifully embodies rustic boho chic style. The abrashed blue field features an all-over Herati pattern. The Classic Herati design, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. It is enclosed with a turtle vine scroll border.
