This antique Persian Kashan gallery runner (c. 1930–1950) is hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation and measures approximately 2 ft 8 in x 17 ft 8 in (about 4.41 sq. m). Its profile and proportions place it in the gallery runner class—ideal for long circulation paths and architectural hallways. Crafted using a traditional Persian asymmetrical knot with a medium pile height, it reflects premium Iranian weaving methods of the early 20th century. One-of-a-kind and fully hand-made, it represents the refined Kashan tradition known for elegant color and floral artistry.
Design features are characterized by a high negative-space open field, allowing the eye to rest on the rich dusty crimson red wool ground. A continuous multicolor floral border scroll encircles the field with alternating palmettes, rosettes, leaf clusters, and sinuous tendrils that soften the strong geometry of the elongated footprint. Deep navy, ivory beige, and touches of muted teal articulate each blossom with crisp contrast against the saturated red field. The absence of a medallion enhances the runner’s linear flow and creates a calm, uninterrupted presentation perfect for long visual sightlines.
With an estimated 200–300 KPSI and a medium-dense pile structure, this piece balances comfort and resilience.
