About the Item

Are you looking for the perfect formal carpet for your Tudor, Victorian, or Colonial-styled home? Look no further than this Lavar carpet, measuring 6’1” x 8’10” and hand-knotted in red, taupe, indigo, gold, and pink wool. Woven in India, this carpet features a classic Persian Lavar design, composed of the symbolic Herati motif, aligned in an all-over pattern. The Herati motif, represented by a small central floral medallion, is circled by four caterpillars. Metaphorically, the Herati motif represents the circle of life because both elements require one another for survival. With their collaboration, balance in nature is achieved, and this is appropriately echoed in the classic symmetry of this design. The idea of equilibrium within the natural world is constantly re-illustrated and consistently represented within Persian designs. In addition to its complementary design style, this Lavar's ideal size and classic color palette will help it find its place in any home. Orley Shabahang works house to house, village to village with our weavers, working to preserve the art of weaving as a cottage industry and implementing ancient weaving methods to create the antiques of the future.
