About the Item

A very old Persian rug in beautiful blue and bordeaux tones, woven using the traditional Soumak (or Sumak) flatweave technique. This weaving style involves wrapping the weft threads over four warp strands, then reversing direction and wrapping over two, creating a tightly interlaced, richly textured surface. Ideal for collectors or those who appreciate the raw beauty of nomadic Persian textiles.
