This oversized antique, circa 1910, Persian Kerman rug has a pale sandy-yellow field with an overall design of pale-blue and buff-brown dense palmette and floral and leafy vine, in a sandy-yellow border of meandering split-palmette vine forming a cartouche enclosing a central palmette flanked by delicate flowerhead vine and further dense flowering vines between multiple sandy-yellow floral vine stripes.
Antique Persian Kerman rugs, woven in southeastern Iran from the late 19th to early 20th century, are renowned for their refined craftsmanship and artistic detail. They often feature intricate floral motifs, elegant medallions, and pictorial or garden-inspired designs rendered in a soft, harmonious palette of ivory, rose, blue, and green.
