About the Item

This vintage, circa 1940, Persian Heriz runner has an ivory field with a variety of delicate angular floral motifs around a central column of linked light blue stepped lozenges with a central ivory lozenge with a brick-red spaced leaves around tiny central rosette, alternating with large polychrome hooked panels each with a buff-brown central panel and a central small rosette, in a narrow charcoal-blue border with polychrome linked lozenges between brick-red floral vine stripes. Heriz rugs, handwoven in the Heriz region of northwestern Iran, are renowned for their bold geometric designs and exceptional durability. Characterized by large central medallions, angular motifs, and a rich color palette of deep reds, blues, and ivory, these rugs combine tribal and classical Persian influences. Made with sturdy local wool, Heriz rugs are especially well-suited for high-traffic areas, maintaining their beauty over time. Their striking patterns and robust construction make them a popular choice for both traditional and modern interiors.
