About the Item
In this listing you will find an extra fine and soft Vintage (almost Antique) hand-woven Afghan Baluch rug. The geometric designs and angular shapes are typical of rugs woven by nomadic and village communities in tribal areas of Afghanistan. The rug features a distinct central medallion design composed of multiple geometric motifs repeated down the length of the field. This tribal, rectilinear style is characteristic of nomadic weavings, rather than the more ornate, curvilinear designs of urban Persian workshop rugs. The dominant colors are rich and warm, including shades of orange, red, brown, and ivory, with accents of dark blue, consistent with the natural dyes. The rug has a year (Islamic calendar) of weaving inscribed on it and it says 1353, equaling to 1934 in Eestern calendar.
