Vintage Persian Khorassan Floral Pattern Room Size Rug in Navy, Turquoise, Red
Located in Barrington, IL
A masterful work of textile art, this vintage Persian Khorassan rug dates to the second quarter of the 20th century and features an intricate floral scrollwork design that exemplifies the elegance of classic Persian weaving. Hand-knotted in the historic Khorassan region of northeastern Iran—renowned for producing some of the finest rugs in Persian history—this piece showcases a rare and desirable near-square room size, making it particularly versatile for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The deep navy blue field serves as a dramatic backdrop for an elaborate network of scrolling vines that unfurl across the surface like flowering branches. These scrolling forms are richly adorned with vibrant floral motifs in turquoise, red, yellow, green, ivory, and sky blue, lending a cheerful and luminous quality to the overall composition. The border design, featuring large, stylized flower bouquets, beautifully frames the central pattern and enhances the visual balance of the piece.
Woven from high-quality wool and dyed with natural pigments, this Khorassan rug offers not only beauty but durability—ideal for a formal living space, grand entryway, or as a collector’s display piece. Its vivid color palette, refined workmanship, and harmonious proportions embody the timeless elegance of Persian rug artistry.
A stunning addition for collectors, connoisseurs, and interior designers seeking a one-of-a-kind rug with historic provenance, artistic sophistication, and decorative impact.

Antique Persian Sarouk Area Rug
Located in New York, NY
Sarouk is a name of a village situated about 25 miles north of Arak (Sultanabad). This region became one of the most active regions of carpet weaving in the late 19th century through the early 20th century. The city's most famous designer was named Farahan. To be able to compete with Kashan in rug commerce, Farahan designed rugs with center medallion motives. Today, these carpets are referred to as Antique 19th century Farahan Sarouks.
In the 1920s and 1930s a well-known rug dealer in New York thought that Americans would buy rose-field carpets with blue borders and detached floral motives. During that period, a vast number of Sarouks with rose-fields and all over floral patterns were woven and exported to the American market. However, the natural dyed rose color did not stand up to the alkaline bath to which new rugs in Arak were subjected in the finishing process. The rose color faded radically. But instead of changing the finishing process or changing the composition of the dyes to stand up to alkali, New York merchants "solved" the problem by arming their staffs with synthetic dyes and little paint brushes with which they painted back in the rose-color in the entire fields of thousands and thousands of rugs and carpets over a period of 20 years. Today, Antique Sarouk rugs and carpets...
