Kilim’s collection of classic kilims and flatweaves.
Designs and collectors alike will note this mid-century textile is one of a twin set of pieces in nearly identical sizes, available both as a pair and individually upon request.
On the Design:
This truly unique runner is a living artifact, bearing the fascinating history of a textile repurposed from its original nomadic function. Its design—featuring large, intricate geometric borders framing a much larger, solid open field—strongly suggests this flatweave was originally a nomadic textile bag that was later opened and repurposed for use as a runner. The design features bold horizontal bands of complex tribal geometry—including sawtooth and latch-hook motifs—in striking colors of deep red and charcoal, which anchor the top and bottom. This strong patterning beautifully contrasts with the expansive, calming center of soft natural beige. The narrow dimensions and particular symmetry of its borders lend its sensibility perfectly to diverse applications; it would function beautifully not only as a floor runner but also as an extraordinary, conversational table runner, adding a singular element of history and art to a dining space.
