78064 Vintage Persian Sarouk Mir Boteh rug with Jacobean Style 11'05 x 15'11. With its striking appeal and saturated red color palette, this hand-knotted wool vintage Persian Sarouk Mir Boteh rug appears like a sumptuous Italian velvet, recalling the rich and luxurious design furnishings of a bygone era such as the reign of King James I in Jacobean England. The abrashed red field features an all-over small-scale mir boteh pattern. The widely used boteh motif is thought to symbolize life with its resemblance to a number of natural forms, including leaves, bushes, pinecones, sprouts and flames. Beige corner spandrels highlighting the Shekeri pattern give the relatively simple composition a great deal of depth and interest. A classic Shekeri main border, composed of scrolling boteh, frames the composition, along with a wonderful series of guard borders featuring rosette meander, diamond and cross, and Laleh Abbasi motifs. The striking play of pattern and scale imbues this vintage Persian rug with immense visual interest and graphic appeal. Rendered in variegated shades of red, sky blue, beige, navy blue, tan, pink, ruby red, sand, royal blue, pink, black, brown, and coffee with other accent colors.
