Made with hand-knotted wool and originating circa 1970-1980, this 10x13 vintage Tabriz rug represents a distinguished addition to Rug
Kilim's vintage collection—an exemplar of the legendary Tabriz weaving tradition.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may recognize this dense, elaborate repeat of palmettes as a “Safavid” design—an archaic, celebrated all over pattern of intricate palmettes in close quarters, though few enjoy such a vivid polychromatic floral design with such an impressive range of hues. Keen eyes will admire rich red, blue, gold and pink in the many radiant and rich hues this regal piece employs in its warmth and fabulous sense of movement. Each compartment within this lattice contains meticulously rendered floral motifs, presenting a perfect balance between geometric structure and organic detail. The border employs the classic Persian approach of multiple concentric frames, with the primary border featuring an elaborate floral vine pattern that echoes motifs found in the central field.
