About the Item
In this listing you will find a stunning vintage Turkmen Ersari rug. Traditionally hand-knotted by Afghan Turkmens and Uzbeks in northern Afghanistan, and also by Afghan refugees in neighboring Pakistan. The dominant motif is the "gul" (Persian for flower), an octagonal or star-shaped design often referred to as the "elephant's foot" pattern. These guls are arranged in symmetrical, repeating rows across a primary field, which is a hallmark of the Turkoman/Aqcha weaving style. Made in Afghanistan in the 1960s.
The rug is in really good condition.
