About the Item
Illustrating a leopardess prowling the jungle floor searching for her next prey, this vintage Persian Qashqai leopard carpet measures 3’10” x 6’3”. Inspired by the Panthera Pardus Juliana, also known as the Persian or Caucasian Leopard, the Qashqai tribe utilizes imagery of big cats to symbolize a spiritual leader. The leopard motif, detailed in organically dyed wool, sports a green dotted camouflage on its soft cream torso. A multi-level border, detailed by gold, indigo, orange, green, red, brown, and cream wool, features vine and floral motifs and encircles the interior field. The foundation and fringe, composed of a wool warp and weft, are covered by a sewn canvas wrap, allowing easy cleaning and vacuuming and providing a clean, contemporary look.
