Hand knotted Yazd rug, woven in Iran circa 1940.
This impressive large-scale Yazd features a soft blue field centered by an elaborate floral medallion, surrounded by finely drawn palmettes, scrolling vines and elegant paisley-inspired motifs. The composition is framed by a wide salmon-toned border enriched with classical floral ornamentation, creating a harmonious balance between field and border typical of Yazd weaving from the mid twentieth century.
Woven from high quality wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a smooth, even surface and a well-balanced handle. The refined drawing, subtle color transitions and calm palette of soft blue, ivory, salmon and muted navy lend the piece a graceful and decorative presence, reflecting the skilled workshop tradition for which Yazd carpets are known.
Size: 17.7 × 9.9 ft (540 × 303 cm), an exceptional oversized format ideal for grand living rooms, reception areas or large interiors.
In good condition for its age. A distinguished example of vintage Yazd weaving, combining elegant design, generous scale and timeless Persian craftsmanship.
