About the Item

Rare “Grön Äng / Green Meadow” Rölakan Carpet by Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Signed AB MMF. Sweden. An important and highly collectible Swedish rölakan flatweave carpet, “Grön Äng (Green Meadow)” is one of Märta Måås-Fjetterström’s most recognized designs, originally conceived in 1928, during the height of the Swedish Grace period—a time defined by refined classicism, balanced geometry, and exceptional craftsmanship. Handwoven in pure wool and produced by Märta Måås-Fjetterström AB, Sweden, after 1941—most likely during the 1950s–1960s. Signed AB MMF. The composition reflects the Swedish Grace ideal through its calm rhythm, architectural structure, and subtle yet confident colour palette, combining folk tradition with modernist restraint. The carpet displays the original signature colour dots, identifying the weavers: – Brown dot: Hjördis Andersson – Brown/yellow dot: Eva Svensson Complete documentation of authenticity and weaver attribution is available. Recently professionally restored and cleaned by a Swedish textile conservator specializing in historic rölakan flatweave carpets. The carpet is presented in mint condition, with all original tassels intact and exceptionally well-preserved colours. A strong yet refined textile work, equally suited for modern interiors and serious Scandinavian design collections. Dimensions: Width: 169 cm Length: 250 cm (excluding tassels) Length: 270 cm (including tassels)
