Made with handwoven wool, this 3x21 contemporary runner rug is an exciting new addition to Rug
Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions.
On the Design:
This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion.
This particular rug enjoys geometric patterns in subtle tones of beige-brown, punctuated by creamy white, mauve and rust tones. Our flatweave’s more durable, weighted body is also a hallmark of the collection, made for high-traffic and heavy-furniture spaces. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic. His Scandinavian Collection is a contribution to that style, and a renaissance for its designs with more comfortable, current techniques.
As an extra-long runner rug with a minimalist design, this piece can be easily sized into one or multiple smaller pieces by our in-house master weavers for an additional price upon request—an ideal choice for hallways, entryways, full staircases, narrow spaces and similar spaces among its vast design applications.
