This 3x5 flat weave rug is a new addition to the Scandinavian Kilim collection by Rug
Kilim. Handwoven in wool and natural yarns, its design reflects a contemporary take on mid-century Rollakans and Swedish Deco style.
On the Design:
This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshing style. This particular Kilim enjoys pink and teal diamond patterns with a playful high-and-low texture on a rich brown background. Connoisseurs may note this line in the collection draws inspiration from Moroccan rugs, too, in its pattern and sensibility. It’s a creative balance of new and chic that uses two distinct styles to create a bold new look.
Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
