Kilim’s coveted antique collection—a piece of history as much as a one-of-a-kind oversized rug of the most regal stature, made with hand-knotted in wool in Turkey circa 1690-1700.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will note this 17th century Oushak is an extremely collectible exemplar of its kind, both in its outstanding large size and in the unique play of intricate traditional patterns it enjoys. Vibrant red, blue, gold, and orange tones are among the many magnificent and varied colors at play in the field and border with a large-sized medallion that flourishes in an elegant range of floral patterns. Admirers of the craft will particularly appreciate the fine detail of the dense, elaborate floral patterns within each medallion and border—a truly masterful level of intricacy among the many that speak to this piece’s sense of grandeur and aristocratic presence.
