About the Item
A vintage hand-knotted "Tulu" (Turkish word for "long piled") rug from the town of Konya in Central Turkey made of lamb’s wool featuring a design of cascading nested lozenges in muted and warm hues.
These contemporary looking, small and functional tulu rugs with lustrous wool pile were made for daily use by nomads and villagers of Central Anatolia until the 1960s. Today they are considered collectible as well as being highly decorative as each one is one of a kind and representing a diminishing form of textile and tribal art. Measures: 4 x 4.2 ft.
