About the Item
A vintage hand knotted "Tulu" (Turkish word for shag piled) rug from Turkey. It is made of finest local hand-spun sheep's wool in burgundy, grass green and blue and features a niche design framed by a large inner border filled with floral motifs.
These charming and somewhat rustic small rugs with long lustrous wool pile were produced for daily use by nomads in Central Anatolia until late 1960s. Today these decorative rugs are also considered collectible as each one is one of a kind and representing a diminishing form of textile and tribal art. Measures: 4 x 5.5 Ft.
