A unique vintage Turkish flat-weave/kilim rug with plenty of visual interest, hand-woven with fine local wool to create a sturdy floor covering. It features all-over double hook motifs, meant as a protection against evil eye, in lavender, red, light blue, peach and magenta on a black and white checkered background. Measures: 6.4 x 9.4 ft
This type of kilims hand-woven with the intricate "Jijim" brocading technique were produced by the nomads of South Central Turkey circa mid-20th century for daily use in their tents rather than re-sale or export purposes and today they are very popular in the interior design world for their quirky, tribal designs as well as their practicality.
This kilim is in very good condition with no issues, professionally cleaned and sturdy.
