About the Item

In this listing you will find a stunning antique Turkish Ghiordes prayer rug, also known as a Gordes prayer rug. These rugs originated in the town of Ghiordes in western Turkey and are known for their intricate designs and durable construction. Features a central arched niche, or mihrab, which is a traditional element used to orient worshippers toward Mecca during prayer. Made in Turkey, cca. 1910. The rug is in overall good antique condition with some small damages, as shown in pictures. When purchased the rug will be carefully wrapped up and packed in a way to avoid any damages in transport.
