Originating from Turkey in 1890, this hand knotted antique Gordes wool rug marries uncommon tea green and pink colorways with a unique employment of the traditional tree of life motif. Surrounding a finely woven curvilinear field design with sole vertical symmetry seen most often in Sultanabad Rugs, the central border enjoys repeated cypress tree emblems, representing eternal life in pairing with the field's islimi palmette iris and peony patterns of rebirth and vitality.
