This 14x23 antique Oushak rug is an extremely collectible palace rug of a proto-Arts
Crafts sensibility—hand-knotted in wool circa 1890-1900.
Originating from Turkey, it’s a one-of-a-kind oversized piece that captures the best sensibilities of its rare provenance.
On the design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this masterpiece in the same beat as Sultanabad rugs of its class. It's also a unique departure from the trend of its period, when many Oriental rugs were crafted for the European market—a rich piece of history where the opposite occurred.
