Showcasing a bold expressive design with incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool antique red Oushak rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The allover pattern and lively colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly classic look. A striking red backdrop sets the scene emphasizing the decorative detailing. The geometric design features three vertical columns composed of Herati style medallions, serrated palmettes, and protection amulets decorated with diamonds and cruciform motifs. A rosette border enclosed with subsidiary guard bands elegantly frame this work of art, pulling together colors from throughout into a unified, harmonious design. This gorgeous red Oushak rug not only carries deep meaning woven within the piece, but it is also very similar to the Oushak rug is in a painting from 1876, 'Portrait of Dr. John Brinton' by Thomas Eakins.
