About the Item
An antique Turkish Kaiseri prayer rug from the 1880s. It features a finely woven silk in the Turkish style with an ecru field. The rug has a scalloped top with a mosque lamp and two ornamental columns supporting a deep spandrel panel. Above and below the panel are supplementary straw and ecru panels with turtle patterns or rows of diamond rosettes. The rug has a straw border with palmettes and rosettes in the Ghiordes Turkish manner.
