This vintage kilim from Eastern Turkey features the distinctive raised embroidery technique known as cicim, where extra weft threads are wrapped across the surface to create texture and geometric detail. Handwoven from hand-spun wool on a wool foundation, it displays alternating bands of tribal symbols, diamond medallions, and protective talisman motifs — all characteristic of the Kars region’s nomadic weaving tradition.
The color palette has softened beautifully over time, giving the rug a warm, earthy presence that feels both authentic and versatile.
