This new, post-1990 hand-knotted palace rug is woven in Turkey, drawing from the historic weaving tradition of Oushak. Measuring approximately 12 ft 2 in × 15 ft 4 in (371 × 468 cm), it is produced in a true oversize / palace format, designed to anchor large-scale interiors where proportion and visual balance are critical.
The composition features a dense allover layout framed by a single wide main border with a narrow inner guard, creating a clear but not overpowering architectural edge. The design vocabulary blends stylized palmettes, floral rosettes, abstract vine and leaf forms, and subtle geometric accents, arranged with approximate vertical and horizontal symmetry. There is no central medallion, allowing the pattern to read evenly across the full surface—an approach typical of Oushak rugs intended for expansive rooms.
The color palette centers on a deep olive-taupe brown field, softened by a lighter parchment-beige border and layered with dusty sky blue, slate blue-gray, antique gold, and restrained burnt-orange accents. Contrast is moderate, giving the rug a decorative presence without sharp visual breaks. Color variation is even and intentional, with no distracting abrash, producing a refined yet earthy aesthetic that bridges traditional and transitional interiors.
