About the Item
This newly crafted Ushak rug revives the visual language of Seljuk Anatolia with a bold, modern sensibility. Its deep espresso-brown field forms a dramatic backdrop for a symmetrical lattice of stylized floral and vine motifs, rendered in vibrant shades of emerald green, madder red, saffron, and indigo—all achieved using traditional natural vegetable dyes.
The rug’s composition draws on 13th-century Seljuk court designs, where geometric abstraction meets botanical inspiration. A wide red border, accented with sky blue, ivory, and gold, provides a radiant frame that enhances the interior pattern’s depth and clarity.
Hand-knotted in Western Anatolia using hand-spun wool and centuries-old techniques, this piece exemplifies Ararat Rugs’ dedication to authenticity, craftsmanship, and sustainable materials. Its rich tones and timeless symbolism make it an heirloom-quality piece fit for both contemporary and classic settings.
